Matthew William Litteken passed away Sunday, June 5, 2016. Matt was born in Florissant, Missouri on August 2, 1928. His parents were John W. and Clara A. (Weber) Litteken. He graduated from Sacred Heart Elementary School in Florissant and then attended McBride Catholic High School in St. Louis, Missouri for three years. Matt finished high school at Pilot Grove High School when his parents moved the family to Pilot Grove, Missouri in 1945.
Matt worked on the farm and cared for his parents until their death. At that time he went to work for the Pilot Grove Public School as a custodian until his retirement in 1993. After his retirement he moved to Fulton, Missouri to care for his older sister until her death. Matt was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Clear Creek Knights of Columbus.
Matt has been a permanent resident at Katy Manor Nursing Home since 2010. He was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings; Lawrence Litteken, Dolores Ellebracht, Clara Hartwig, Mark Litteken, Rita Matteson and Luke Litteken.
Matt is survived by two siblings; John W. Litteken, Jr. of Katy Manor Nursing Home and (Martha)Jane (Litteken) Twenter of Pilot Grove as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 407 Harris Street, Pilot Grove, Missouri 65276. Rosary will be lead by the Knights of Columbus at 9:30 AM that morning with visitation held until time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorials be directed to St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph Catholic School or for masses.
Arrangements are under the direction of Meisenheimer Funeral Home, Pilot Grove, Missouri.
