Mary Maxine Dillner

Mary Isenschmid Jobe Dillner, 89 years young, went to Heaven on Sunday, July 19, 2020, at her beloved home in Clear Creek, MO.

She was born on March 3, 1931, the only child of Justina Elliott Isenschmid and Edward Isenschmid, at her parents’ home near High Point in Moniteau County. On March 6, 1948, three days after her 17th birthday, she married her high school sweetheart, Frankie Jobe. They had 3 children, Vicki, Bruce and Brian and lived and farmed in the Pilot Grove community until Frank’s death in 1978. She married Joe Dillner in 1982 and he passed away in 1989.

Always a farm girl, Mary loved her home and farm, mowing her yard, her horses and beloved dogs, the St. Louis Cardinals, MU Tigers basketball, drinking coffee, reading, history, watching Jeopardy, playing the piano and organ, traveling, and her family and friends. She was a devout Christian who played the piano and organ for many years at Wesley Chapel Methodist Church and the Clear Creek Community Church.

When she became a widow at age 47, she practiced typing and worked as a secretary in the Ag Econ Department at the University of Missouri, Columbia, where she made friends with coworkers much younger than her. She then worked as a teller for Citizens Community Bank in Pilot Grove for 24 years and Savvy Seconds in Boonville after retiring from the bank.

Mary always had a warm smile and open arms for her beloved family and friends. She was very proud to be a 1947 graduate of California, MO High School and often told stories of growing up on the farm, adventures with her first cousins June and Dene, and her and Frankie’s many friends from high school. She was proud of her Swiss German heritage and fulfilled her dream of visiting Switzerland for her 80th birthday. When she married Joe Dillner, she readily opened her heart and arms to bring his children into her family. She loved family get togethers and welcoming new babies into her family.

She was a member of Wesley Chapel Methodist Church and the Cooper County Historical Society, was the long time treasurer for the Wesley Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery and past treasurer of the historical society.

Mary is survived by her children, Vicki Jobe McCarrell, Brian (JoLynn) Jobe, Jerry (Paula) Dillner and Byron (Joy) Dillner, daughter-in-law Lori Jobe, all of the Pilot Grove area, as well as her 9 grand kids, 10 great grandkids and her dog Coco. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her. She was preceded in death by her beloved son Bruce in 2017, her husbands Frank Jobe and Joe Dillner, her parents Justina and Edward Isenschmid, and also several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm on Wednesday, July 22, at Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Pilot Grove. The funeral/celebration of her life will be held at 10 am on Thursday, July 23 at Wesley Chapel Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The family understands that people may not feel comfortable attending the service due to Covid 19, and those who do attend may wish to wear masks. Memorials in Mary’s memory may be made to the Wesley Chapel Church Cemetery or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
