Martha L. Vollmer

Martha L. Vollmer, 89, of Pilot Grove, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2021, at Katy Manor Nursing Home.

She was born June 22, 1931, in Pilot Grove, daughter of William and Selma Kempf.

On April 25, 1950, in Pilot Grove, she was married to Wilbert Joseph Vollmer, who preceded her in death on February 3, 1992.

Martha was a loving wife and mother of seven children. She enjoyed reading, gardening, embroidery and spending time with her grandkids. She will be remembered as a sweet, kind and fair person. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Surviving are her seven children: Judy Gantner (John) of St. Peters, Kenny Vollmer of Pilot Grove, Dennis Vollmer (Betty) of Pilot Grove, Darrell Vollmer of Boonville, Terry Vollmer (Betty) of Pilot Grove, Patty Smith (Eddie) of Blackwater, and Sue Clarke (Kenny) of Boonville; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Fay Kempf of Boonville.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by siblings: William, Sylvia, Alfreda and Kenny.

Prayers of the Rosary will be said at 9:00 a.m. Friday, February 19, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pilot Grove, followed by visitation until service time. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Phil Kane officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery in Clear Creek.

Casket bearers will be James Vollmer, Bradley Vollmer, Wes Clarke, Holden Smith, Jaret Peterson and John J. Gantner.

Honorary bearers will be Eddie P. Smith, Emily Smith, Melinda Jenks, Sara Ermeling, Stacy Vollmer, DeAnn Prettyman, Kelsey Rasa, Michelle Zeller, Robin Wassman, Jennifer Peterson, Katie Vollmer and Shari Gantner.

Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of the Meisenheimer Funeral Home.
