Margaret Pearl “Margie” Mize, 83, of Pilot Grove, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at her home.
She was born December 8, 1942, in Sweet Springs, the daughter of Isaac Hugh Parkhurst and Anna Blanche (Class) Parkhurst. In 1945, her family purchased a farm near Pilot Grove, where she was raised. She was a graduate of Pilot Grove High School.
On January 14, 1967, she married Kenneth Dale Mize at the Pilot Grove Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on April 5, 2021.
Margie worked for a time at Bobbin Heel Factory in Boonville before beginning what became her life's work—caring for children in her home. She helped raise generations of children in the community and lovingly created a personal photo album for each one. She enjoyed making crafts, sewing, crocheting, and shopping with her grandchildren. An excellent cook, she was especially known for her potato salad, lep cookies, and angel food cakes. No one ever left her home hungry.
Margie lived by the philosophy, “Whatever will be, will be.” She loved cats, was an avid Elvis fan, and never missed her favorite television show, Days of Our Lives. She also enjoyed watching cooking shows. Above all, she will be remembered for her sweet, kind, loving, and caring nature. She attended Bible Baptist Church in New Franklin.
Survivors include her son, Timothy Dale Mize (Paula) of Pilot Grove; three grandsons, Mickey Mize (Ana Marie) of New Bedford, Massachusetts, Lane Mize of Pilot Grove, and Cole Mize of St. Louis; her sister, JoAnn Quint of Pilot Grove; and her niece, Beverly Crawford of Pilot Grove.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2026, at Meisenheimer-Page-Dady Funeral Home in Pilot Grove, where funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will follow at Pilot Grove Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, in care of the funeral home.
