Margaret Ann Friedly

Margaret Ann Friedly, 81, of Stover, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Golden Age Living Center in Stover.

She was born April 27, 1940, in Morgan County, daughter of Homer and Arlene (Tagtmeyer) Gerlt.

She was baptized on May 2, 1940 and confirmed on April 11, 1954 both at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stover. The confirmation verse was John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

On February 21, 1957, at the parsonage of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stover, she was united in marriage to Ross Wayne Friedly. This union was blessed with three children. Ross preceded Margaret in death on December 21, 2010.

Margaret was a graduate of Santa Fe High School in Alma. After marriage, she became a homemaker and enjoyed caring for her family, tending her flowers, and baking.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Blackburn, where she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She later joined St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stover, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid.

Surviving are two sons, Jeff Friedly (Tammy), of La Monte, and Alan Friedly (Shirley), of Huntsville; five grandchildren, Pam Hopper (Mike), of Huntsville, Jennifer Gillotti, of Higginsville, Eric Friedly (Melody), of Otterville, Michelle Friedly, of Higginsville, and Holly Diaz (Mike), of Converse, TX; thirteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Roger Gerlt (Margaret), of Florida; a brother-in-law, George Milligan, of Boonville; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Rodney Friedly; brother, Robert Gerlt; and sister, Dorothy Milligan.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2022, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stover.

Burial will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Stover.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or School in Stover, or Zion Lutheran Church Blackburn, MO.
