Lyle Edwin Baxter

July 14, 1944 — March 2, 2008

Lyle E. Baxter, age 63, of Lathrop, died Sunday, March 2, 2008, at his home.
He was born July 14, 1944, in Howard's Ridge, Missouri a son of B.R. and Muriel Stutsman Baxter. He married Sherri Hopper on December 12, 1969, at the Versailles United Methodist Church, and she survives at their home.
Lyle was a 1962 graduate of Versailles High School. He was a Navy veteran, serving his country in Vietnam.
He owned and operated Ironcraft, an ornamental iron works shop, in Kansas City.
Lyle was an avid collector. He especially enjoyed World War II memorabilia and Auburn Rubber Toys.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two brothers, Robert Baxter and wife Georgia of Kansas City and Gary Baxter and wife Linda of Raytown, two sisters, also nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, a great-great nephew, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 6, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Versailles with Russ Barton officiating. Burial will be in the Versailles Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 6, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorial contributions are suggested to the National Kidney Foundation.
