Loretia "Rita" V. Smith

Loretia "Rita" V. Smith, age 81, of Versailles, died Friday, April 24, 2009, at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles.
She was born August 26, 1927, in Camden County, a daughter of Paris "Bud" and Maggie Burns Hunt. On December 12, 1946, in Stover, Rita was united in marriage to Norman Smith and he survives at their home.
She was a graduate of Stover High School.
Rita worked for Sears in Kansas City for several years. She later worked at Camp Oak Ledge Girl Scout Camp in Warsaw, where she was the head cook.
She was a devoted wife and mother, busy raising her two boys. Rita enjoyed the time she and Norman could spend fishing, mushroom hunting and being at the flea market.
She was a member of the 1st Assembly of God Church in Versailles.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Warren Smith and wife Linda of Knob Noster and Gary Smith of Grain Valley; one sister, Venetia Mizer of Versailles; six grandchildren, Christine, Sherry, Wendy, Kelly, Michiele and Marc, eleven great grandchildren, Brittany, Presley, Christian, Elenorah, Blaine, Katy, Sidney, Chris, Matthew, Jilly and Reesee, also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Vaughn Hunt and one sister, Juanita Kerksiek.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 27, 2009, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover with Pastor Roy Bennett officiating. Interment will be in the Stover Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 - 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 27, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Community Hospices of America.
