Lla Merle Daub

January 21, 1928 — October 5, 2016

Lla Merle Daub, age 88 of Villa Ridge, Missouri passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at home with family at her side.

One of three children, Lla Merle was born January 21, 1928 to Louis Lee and Beulah Mae (Grey) Nix in Palestine, Texas.

Lla Merle grew up in Texas and started her own family there. When employment required the family move, they experienced living in several states until finally settling in Missouri. For the last several years, Lla Merle has shared a home with her daughter Colleen, granddaughter, Rebecca and great-grandson Bentley in Villa Ridge.

Lla Merle worked as a cashier for Tri-County Truck Stop for many years. She crocheted and knitted and produced dozens of doilies and afgans for family and friends. Lla Merle was a lover of nature and enjoyed sharing that with family by taking them to Shaw's Nature Reserve and walking through the paths of wild flowers and looking at the trees and ponds. Feeding and watching birds was another way she enjoyed nature. She also was an avid reader and watched old westerns on television. She was a big St. Louis Cardinal fan and along with that, her favorite food was a great grilled hot dog!

Preceding Lla Merle in death were her parents and brothers Norman and Nolan Nix.

Surviving Lla Merle are her sons Gerald Walker of Boonville and John M. McCollum of Union, Missouri; daughters Donna Lee Massmann and her husband Don of Leslie, Missouri, Deborah Lynn Hall and her husband Tom of Blackwater, Missouri, Colleen Calcote of Villa Ridge, Missouri; 16 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
