Liska Pauline Murphy, age 93, of Lohman, died Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at Adams Street Place in Jefferson City.
She was born May 24, 1916, in Stringtown, a daughter of Frank and Marie "Mary" Doehla Linsenbardt. She was baptized June 4, 1916, and confirmed April 17, 1932, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lohman. The confirmation verse chosen was 1 Timothy 4:8, "For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come." On September 13, 1950, she married Freddie Young Murphy and he preceded her in death January 7, 1992.
She was a homemaker. Liska enjoyed the time she spent working on the farm with her husband. She tended garden and also helped look after the variety of animals they raised.
In December of 1986, Liska and Freddie moved from their farm to a house in Lohman, where she resided until her health began to fail her. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lohman.
Survivors include four nephews, Les Linsenbardt and wife Kathryn of Lohman; Raymond Fischer and wife Nola of Russellville; Gus Fischer Jr., and wife Jeannette of Lohman and Jim Eckenberger of Versailles; two nieces, Jean Fink and Marie Fischer, both of Jefferson City; also great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Victor and Oscar Linsenbardt and Lee Linsenbardt (who was raised like a brother) and her sisters, Erma Fischer, Irene, Edna and Frances Linsenbardt.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, July 17, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lohman with Pastor Edward Merckel officiating. Interment will be in the Centertown Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 1:00 P.M. - 2:00 P.M. Friday, July 17, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lohman. Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Paul's Window Renovation Fund or Centertown Cemetery.
