Lex Villines

Lex Villines, age 87, of Stover passed away Thursday, January 18th, 2024, at the Golden Age Living Center.
It was on the 23rd day of May in 1936 that Thomas and Alpha (Wishon) Villines welcomed their son, Lex, into their home in Newton County, Arkansas.
On January 28, 1957, Lex was united in marriage to Evelyn Sue Guffey in Rogers, Arkansas.
Lex owned the New Deluxe Barber Shop in Kansas City for many years. He also helped at multiple barber shops around the Sedalia and Stover areas for many years after he and Sue moved to the Stover area.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He had a large old clock collection. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family. They would go on camp outs when his son, Ron, was younger. As Lex and Sue got older, they loved to travel. They traveled to most of the United States and to Europe.
Left to carry on his legacy is his son, Ron Villines of Independence; three grandchildren, James Villines and wife Kate, Veronica Teat and husband Chris, and Maxwell Villines; two great grandchildren, Oryn and Eefa Teat; one brother, Norman Villines of Salem, Oregon; three half sisters, Jerelene Bryant, Hilda Moon, and Dixie Burks; along with other family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sue; and infant daughter, Linda Sue; two brothers, Herman and Archie; and three sisters, Blanche, Eunice and Avanell.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2024 at the Scrivner-Page-Dady Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Bigham officiating. Burial will follow in the Stover Cemetery.
Visitation will be at 12:00 noon until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
