Laura L. Hally, age 86, of Versailles, passed away Saturday morning, January 25, 2020, due to injuries sustained in a house fire.
She was born September 25, 1933, in Hoisington, Kansas a daughter of Lawrence L. and Olive L. Collicott Pearce. On October 21, 1965, in Miami, Oklahoma, Laura was united in marriage to John Hally, who preceded her in death September 29, 2013.
She was a homemaker, busy raising her children and her wonderful granddaughter (raised as a daughter Melissa McClanahan) and caring for her husband.
Laura spent most of her life in Kansas. Following John’s retirement they moved to Morgan County, making their home in Versailles.
She was an animal lover especially to her dogs Little Bit and Pumpkin and her two birds. She enjoyed camping, going to church, ceramics, going to garage sales, loved her holiday decorations, listening to her Ham radio, watching Westerns, Duck Dynasty and The Voice; however her greatest enjoyment came from her family, blood related and those she adopted to be family and claimed as family. She was loved by many and she thought the world of her grandchildren, whom she loved very much, even through bad times.
Survivors include one son, Thomas McClanahan of Stover, one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Edward Richardson of Kansas, one sister, Velta Ince, a special family member, Cheryl Kraft of Collins; seven grandchildren, one step grandchild, thirteen great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren and two step great-great grandchildren, along with other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Laura was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Cindy Cook a son Donald Mcclanahan Jr pronounced death at birth and two sisters, Delana Rothenberger and Vi Kassellman.
Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 31, in the West Lawn Addition of the Versailles Cemetery.
