Kenneth Leo Thomas

Kenneth Leo Thomas, age 90, of Indianola, Iowa, formerly of Russellville, Missouri, died Monday, December 3, 2007, at the Westview Care Center in Indianola.
He was born March 5, 1917, in Osceola, Iowa a son of Henry Raymond and Florence Turk Thomas. He married Erma Lehman Hager on December 13, 1966, in Russellville and she preceded him in death April 30, 2002.
Kenny was raised on a farm in Osceola, and from 1936 until 1946 was a farmer. From 1946 until 1960, he worked for Hoaks Construction out of Des Moines, Iowa as a pole hauler. In 1960 he moved to Russellville where he worked as a handyman until 1973. From 1973 until his retirement in 1977, he worked for the City of Russellville as the water and street commissioner, and later kept busy building fences with Roy Goldammer in the Russellville area. He enjoyed gardening and hunting. He returned to Iowa to be near his son and daughter-in-law when his health began to fail him.
Survivors include one son, Richard Thomas and wife Sandy of Indianola; one stepson, Ernie Hager and wife Pauline of Russellville; two daughters, Ardyce Newell of Indianola and Delma Hendrickson of the state of California; two stepdaughters, Mathilda L. Blank of St. Joseph, Missouri and Marie Meisel and husband Leroy of Jefferson City; Missouri; also, several grandchildren, step grandchildren, great grandchildren, step great-grandchildren and step great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Phillip Thomas, two brothers, Merlin and Marlin Thomas, one grandchild and one step granddaughter.
Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 5, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Russellville with Pastor Jeannie Martin-Webb officiating. Burial will be in the Enloe Cemetery west of Russellville. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 P.M. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
