Karen Jean Kirchoff

Karen Jean Kirchoff, age 64, of California, passed away Monday, June 13, 2016, at Villa Marie in Jefferson City, where she had been a resident since January 27, of this year. She was born May 8, 1952, in Sedalia, the second child of George and Beulah Rasa Burnett. Karen was a 1970 graduate of Otterville High School and a graduate of Merrell University of Beauty Arts and Science. Karen worked at the Truman Building for the Department of Revenue in Jefferson City, until retiring two years ago. In the evenings she worked at various beauty shops through the years, where she developed lasting friendships that led to faithful visits during her stay in the nursing home. She also cleaned homes on the weekends. Karen devoted herself to the care of her sister, Gayle for more than 15 years, until her health no longer allowed her to do so. She adored her two granddaughters and loved spending time with them whenever possible. She was known for her meticulous house and yard and her love of collecting antiques. Survivors include her longtime companion, Kevin Wegener of California; her daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Rodney Edwards of Russellville; her two granddaughters, Macie Erin Edwards and Courtney Paige Edwards, three sisters, Suzette Meyer and husband John of Williamsport, Pennsylvania; Gayle Burnett and Kim Carollo both of Sullivan; along with other relatives and many friends. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, Lucas Jack Edwards and a brother-in-law, Jack Carollo. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Monday, June 20, at the California United Methodist Church, with a Celebration of Karen’s life beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the church. Rev.
