Jonathan Ray Oehrke, age 56, lifelong resident of Stover, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, November 28, 2019, at St. Marys Health Center in Jefferson City.
He was born September 25, 1963, in Versailles the youngest child of Glenn W. and Donice Alpers Oehrke. Jonathan was baptized October 13, 1963 and confirmed April 12, 1981, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stover. The confirmation verse chosen was Psalm 23:1, “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.”
He was a 1983 graduate of Stover High School.
Jonathan was employed at the Vintage Shop with Quality Industries in Versailles; where he could often be found whistling while he worked. He didn’t know a stranger and looked forward to greeting the customers and encouraging them to shop.
He enjoyed a good game of dominoes, Chinese checkers and Aggravation. He was a fan of John Deere tractors, loved feeding the birds and taking care of Bandit his dog. He also looked forward to going on trips with his brother Galen.
He was a faithful member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stover.
Survivors include his brother, Galen P. Oehrke and his sister, Linda G. Metscher both of Stover; two nephews and their wives, Travis and Kay Dority and William and Lexi Metscher, along with seven great nieces and nephews, several cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Sunday, December 1, at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stover.
Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, December 1, at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stover with Rev. Gerald Kurka officiating. Interment will be in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Stover.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
