John D. Waddell

John D. Waddell age 80 of Kansas City, Missouri, died Sunday, August 19, 2007, at the Ashton Court Care and Rehabilitation Center in Liberty.


He was born September 22, 1926, in Versailles a son of Joseph Honest and Nannie Mae Chapman Waddell. He married Helen Blanks and to this union three children were born. She survives in Versailles.


He was a 1944 graduate of Versailles High School and an Army veteran serving his country during World War II. Mr. Waddell retired from Armco Steel in Kansas City.


He attended the Full Gospel Church in Kansas City as long as his health allowed.


Survivors include his three children, John David Waddell and wife Tina of Gravois Mills; Mary K. Roberts of Wichita, Kansas and George M. Waddell and wife Martha of Liberty; also eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, William S. Waddell and George M. Waddell.


Graveside services will be 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, August 22, in the Oak Park Addition of the Versailles Cemetery with Rev. Danny Owsley officiating. Military funeral honors will be rendered following the committal.


The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 22, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Versailles.
