John Donald Sponcler

John Donald Sponcler, 85, was reunited with the love of his life, Sue Sponcler Sr. on February 2, 2018. He was born at home on the farm in Tipton, Missouri to Harrry and Kathleen Born Sponcler on Valentine's Day, 1932.

Growing up, he lived most of his life in the Tipton/Syracuse area, also in the state of Washington and the Kansas City area briefly. John was an Army veteran serving his country honorably in the Korean War.

He married Frances "Sue" Sponcler July 2, 1955 and had 2 sons; George and John. They moved back to lay down permanent roots in Otterville in 1964 where they raised their boys. John was a mechanic, working for himself for several years and then working for Bill Albin at the quarries. After retirement, he went to work at Koenke's Garage in Syracuse part time.

John loved traveling, doing jigsaw puzzles and reading westerns. They always took off a weekend in April to see the dogwoods blooming down around the Lake of the Ozarks, made several trips to Michigan and to several other states, Germany and Canada.

He is survived by sons George Sponcler and his wife Sue, John Sponcler and his wife Carrie; granddaughters Christy and Chad Wirths, Tiffany and Craig Roettgen, Jennifer Ehlers and George Pearson, Valarie and Sean Main; great grands Elaina, Daylan, and Marina Wirths, Porter Hurt and Paisley Roettgen, Austyn Sawford, Lexie May and Camden Main.

Funeral services for John D. Sponcler will be 11:00 AM Monday, February 5, 2018 at Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Otterville. Visitation will begin at 10 AM prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in the Otterville IOOF Cemetery.
