John Allen Propst

January 31, 1950 — October 11, 2007

John Allen Propst, age 57 of Independence, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2007, at the Hospice of Jefferson City and Mid-Missouri Friendship House in Jefferson City.
He was born January 31, 1950, in Jefferson City, a son of Clarence C. and Dorothy Hemeyer Propst. He was baptized
February 26, 1950, and confirmed April 11, 1965, at Immanuel Lutheran Church-Honey Creek. The confirmation verse that was chosen was John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
John was a graduate of Jefferson City High School. He was a self-employed over-the-road truck driver. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church-Honey Creek.
He moved to Lohman a few months ago when his health began to fail, to be near his sisters and brothers.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan Stanback and husband Ron of Independence and Kerry Propst and fiancee Joseph Parks of Blue Springs; two brothers, David Propst and wife Cathy and Dennis Propst all of Jefferson City; two sisters, Peggy Heidbreder and husband Marvin of Lohman and Jane Schneider and husband John of Jefferson City; a sister-in-law Mary Propst of Gladstone; four grandchildren, Cody Stanback, Alex Miranda, Faith Lefevers and Brody Stanback, also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents, one son, John Allen Propst, Jr., and one brother, Clarence Lee Propst.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, October 14, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church-Honey Creek with Pastor Rick Swanson officiating. Inurnment will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery-Honey Creek.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 P.M. - 2:30 P.M. Sunday at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Hospice of Jefferson City and Mid-Missouri or Immanuel Lutheran Church or cemetery at Honey Creek.
