John W. Meyer

John W. Meyer, age 69, of Olean, died Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.
He was born March 28, 1939, on the family farm, known as the Musick place in the Enon area, the second child of J. Henry and Erma Proctor Meyer. On May 21, 1972, in Green Ridge, Missouri, John married Beverly Tising and she survives at their home.
He attended schools at Olean and Grant and graduated from High Point R-III in the 1st class in 1953. He graduated from Eldon High School in 1957. He was an Army veteran, serving from January 1962, to November 1963. He took basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood and also was stationed at Colorado, Wisconsin and spent 13 months in Korea, attached to a military advisory group (KMAG).
John resided on the farm where he was born. He was a farmer, and also worked for Dr. Robert Groves, DVM and at the Olean Livestock Market, Inc.
He was a member of the Olean Christian Church and served on the Olean Cemetery Board.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ardyce and Bill Shipman of Blue Springs, Missouri and Mary and Lonnie Harper of Grain Valley, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Saundra Tising Wiser of Jefferson City; Missouri, also three nieces, two nephews, other relatives and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Arnold Meyer.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 21, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Russellville with Bro. Glen Golden officiating. Interment, with military funeral honors, will be in the Olean Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Friday, March 20, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Russellville. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Olean Cemetery. www.scrivner-morrow.com
