John (Jock) Lachlan MacIver III, 75 passed away on June 6, 2024, at his home.

He was born on July 3, 1948, in Newton, MA to John Lachlan MacIver, Jr and Patrica Proctor MacIver and grew up in Wickford, RI. Wickford being a small fishing town, John grew up building ship models, building/restoring boats and sailing on Wickford Harbor and Narraganset Bay. He finished high school at Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, NH.

After high school he joined the Navy and sailed on a number of cruises and decommissioned two ships. He received his Honorable Discharge in 1970.

He earned a Nondestructive Testing degree from Spartan School of Aeronautics, OK; an Associate’s Degree from Mohegan Community College, CT; and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical and Welding Technology from Excelsior College, NY. Nondestructive testing and ultrasonic inspection of structural steel in ships, buildings, bridges and nuclear power plants became his career.

He married Jo-Ann Wilson and from that marriage was born John Lachlan MacIver IV. This marriage did not last, and after a few years as a single parent John found his lifelong love Janet Cooper and her two sons Keith and Aaron. The blended family built a small farm in Greene, RI where John continued sailing and working on ship models and boats. His model of the Coast Guard Training Bark Eagle is on display at the Coast Guard Academy museum in New London, CT.

John and Janet moved to Stover, MO in 1994, and there refurbished a farm home and buildings while John continued work on models and antique boats in his spare time, and was employed in Nondestructive Testing at the Missouri Department of Transportation and later, Geotechnology in St. Louis, MO.

After Retiring, John has spent most of his time working around their farm. John was a member of the Versailles Masonic Lodge.

John is survived by his wife of 40 years Janet Cooper, sons John (Tina) MacIver, Keith Kaszyk and Aaron (Athea) Kaszyk; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brothers Malcom (Cathy) MacIver of ME, Donald (Patty) MacIver of CT, and Kenneth MacIver of MO, Sister Jean MacIver of FL; and the best dogs Brody, Quinn and Moxie. John was preceded in death by his parents.
