It was on the 8th day of June in 1945 when Pete and Vera Boyd welcomed their son, Jim, into their family. He spent his childhood days on the family farm near Murdo, South Dakota, where he enjoyed his time with his sister, riding horse back, and taking care of livestock. Later he attended high school in Pierre, South Dakota, where he graduated. While attending high school he loved drag racing and fast cars.
He was a restaurant owner for several years in Hot Springs, South Dakota until 1993 when he purchased a farm near Stover, Missouri.
He enjoyed raising cattle and his greatest passion was restoring vintage cars and attending many car shows with his family.
Jim knew the Lord and was a Christian and is now at rest.
He is survived by his wife, Merna of the home; seven sons, Dan DeSharley and wife Vanissa of Rolla, Larry Boyd and wife Rachel of Yankton, South Dakota, Tom Boyd of Yankton, South Dakota, Scott Boyd of Rolla, Jason Boyd of Yankton, South Dakota, Thad Boyd of Rolla, and Calvin Boyd of Stover; one daughter, Kim Nash and husband Roger of Jerome; nine grandchildren, Jared Nash, Logan Nash, Dakota DeSharley, Zach Boyd, Justus Boyd, Nicole Jensen, Cheyenne Toms, Paisley Boyd, and River Boyd; nine great grandchildren; a sister, Bonita Noldner and husband Rodney; along with several other family members and friends.
The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Scrivner-Page-Dady Funeral Home in Stover. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Stover Cemetery.
