Jesse E. Powell

January 18, 1935 — September 4, 2019

Jesse Ezekiel Powell, age 84, of Versailles, Missouri passed away shortly after midnight, Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles.

He was born January 18, 1935, in Kolin, Louisiana a son of Alan and Francis Landry Powell.  He married Linda Crawford and to this union three children were born.  Linda survives in Springfield, Missouri.

Jesse moved his family to the Lake of the Ozarks, located in central Missouri, in the early 1960’s.  In 1974, he went to work for Port Arrowhead Marina in Osage Beach, where he delivered boats from Florida to Washington State before retiring in 2005.

He loved spending time at the Lake, where he could hunt, fish and visit with his neighbors.  For many years he had a side business as a vendor at the local flea markets; enjoying meeting old friends and making new ones.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Ellen Powell of Fort Worth, Texas; a daughter, Cindy Leck of Punta Gorda, Florida; a daughter-in-law, Linda Powell of Springfield, Missouri; a sister, Francis Simmons of Brownsville, Texas; six grandchildren, Christy, Bryan, Josh, Deanna, Melissa and Jessica, eight great grandchildren, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Jesse was preceded in death by a son, Keith Powell on September 17, 2018, a son-in-law, Jim Leck, five brothers, Herschel, James, Allen, Louie and Verlin and two sisters, Margie and Ferline.

In keeping with his wishes, he was cremated.  Private burial will be in the West Lawn Addition of the Versailles Cemetery in Versailles, Missouri.
