In Loving Memory of James Garr

April 19, 1937 – October 29, 2026

James E Garr Jr., of Stover, Missouri, passed away at the age of 89, leaving behind a loving family and a lifetime of memories. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, dedication to his family, faith, and the life he and his beloved wife, Vilma, built together over 71 years of marriage.

James was a hardworking man who spent his life working as a welder, truck driver, and farmer. He took pride in his work and was never afraid to get his hands dirty. He especially enjoyed working on the properties he and Vilma purchased throughout the years. Together, they devoted countless hours to improving their properties, and their hard work did not go unnoticed. They received many compliments on the improvements they made, reflecting the pride and care they put into everything they did.

James and Vilma were faithful members of St. Paul Lutheran Church for 53 years. Their commitment to their church and their family was an important part of their lives and a lasting example for future generations.

Above all, James cherished his family. The life he and Vilma shared over 71 years created a legacy that extends through their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. His family will remember him through the many memories they shared, the values he demonstrated, and the love that connected them across generations.

James is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Vilma Garr, and their four children: Debbie Eckhoff and her husband, Steve, of Stover, Missouri; Christie Tucker of Norman, Oklahoma; James Garr III and his wife, Pam, of Festus, Missouri; and Gary Garr of Stover, Missouri.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kyle, Mike, Casey, Hayley, Candace, and Cory; his great-grandchildren, Noah, Emma, Kiley, Jaxon, Logan, Connor, Corbin, Linley, Keegan, Parker, Blakely, Will, Cole, Eli, Ginny, and Addie; and his great-great-grandchildren, Kolly, Blake, and Andie. He is also survived by a special niece, Terry Myers of Omaha, NE.

He was preceded in death by his beloved grandchildren, Jamie and Matthew, who remain forever a part of the family's memories and hearts.

James leaves behind a legacy built on hard work, faith, devotion, and family. Though he will be deeply missed, the life he shared with Vilma and the generations of family that grew from their love will ensure that his memory lives on for years to come.
