James Leslie Burnett

James Leslie "Jamie" Burnett, age 54, of Gravois Mills passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at his home.

He was born October 23, 1965 in California, Missouri to Leslie "Les" and Myrtle Ruth Ann Bailey Burnett. On June 8, 1996 in Sweet Springs he was united in marriage to Shirley Hursman, who survives at their home.      He was a 1987 graduate of Morgan County R-II in Versailles.      He was member of the Mt. Calvary Freewill Baptist Church south of Stover.      For twenty-two years Jamie worked as a handyman for Ronnie and Dianne Conner on their farm, doing anything that needed to be done. Later he helped at Conner Country Realty, providing handyman services and landscaping assistance.     Jamie loved working outdoors and especially loved yard work.  He looked forward to spending time with family and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.      In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Margaret Burnett of Stover and Lisa Kelly of St. Robert; two siblings, Linda Lutjen and Russell Burnett both of Gravois Mills; four grandchildren, Wade Nevels, Jordynn Nevels, Austin Hall, and Caden Burnett; twelve nieces and nephews, Eddie Burnett, Jr., Brittany Lutjen, Randy Lutjen Jr. and Brandon Lutjen, Bryan Ivie, Courtland Kaut, Kayla Moore, Steven Burnett, Cheyanne Hunter, Russell Burnett, Jr., Cody Burnett, and Leslie Burnett along with many other family members and friends.      Jamie is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Eddie Burnett.     Memorial contributions are suggested to the family of James Burnett % of Russell Burnett to help with final expenses.      A private burial will be at a later date in the Chaney Chapel Cemetery south of Stover.
