James "Jim" Douglas Bauer

James D. "Jim" Bauer, age 63, of Stover, died Sunday, September 27, 2009, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident east of Stover.
He was born June 18, 1946, in Boonville, a son of Edmund and Alyce Conley Bauer, both deceased. On February 22, 1969, Jim was united in marriage to Joyce Taylor at the Christ Lutheran Church in Stover. Joyce survives at their home.
He was a 1964 graduate of Stover High School and a 1968 graduate of the University of Missouri in Columbia.
Jim co-owned and operated the family business, the Stover Milling Company.
He was a lifelong member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Stover. He was also a member of Galloway-Martens American Legion Post 343 in Stover, the Stover Chamber of Commerce and the Cattleman's Association.
Jim was an avid sportsman, enjoying basketball, golf, swimming, biking, running, participating in the Senior Show-Me State Games, and watching sports, especially the MU Tigers. He also enjoyed playing the ukulele and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. His greatest enjoyment came from the time he could spend with his family, especially his grandkids.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Brad and Lori Bauer and Scott and Tara Bauer all of Stover; a brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Joan Bauer of Stover; a sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Eric Robinson of Dallas, Texas; six grandchildren, Jensen, Brenden, Blake, Bryce, Emily and Hannah Bauer, nieces and nephews, Beth and Kenny Dale and sons Asher and Jesse, Ken and Gaylene Bauer and children, Desirae and Spencer, Seth Robinson and son Grant, Amelia and Chris Washington and children Colton and Alyce Jo, Mindy and Trevor Kennedy and son Lane Stokes, and Abby and Blake Smith and daughter Makenzey, his mother-in-law, Viola Taylor, Joyce's siblings, Sharon and Jack James and Ron and Kathy Taylor and their families and many friends.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, October 2, at Christ Lutheran Church in Stover with Pastor John Kiehl officiating. Interment, with military funeral honors, will be in the Kipp Addition of the Stover Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday, October 1, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover, with a prayer service at 7:30 P.M. The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the Christ Lutheran Church.
