James Marshall Allen, Sr., 91, of Versailles, MO, formerly of Bordentown, N.J., died Friday, November 25, 2022, in Pilot Grove, MO.
He was born January 19, 1931, in Bordentown, son of Clarence and Agnes (Lenoir) Allen.
He was married to the late Eileen (Dallas) Allen.
James was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He served as the Bordentown City Chief of Police as a part of his forty-year career in law enforcement. After retiring from the city, he worked for the State of New Jersey in human services. He was a member of the Police Chiefs’ Association.
James was a jack-of-all trades and was always helping or teaching someone with his abilities. He will be remembered as a generous, well-known man around Bordentown, as well as his beloved dog, Bridgette. He had an electric motor business, among a few other side jobs over the years. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodcarving.
Surviving are two children, James Allen, Jr. (Natalya), of Versailles, and Colleen Kelly (Jim), of Bordentown; three grandchildren, Katherine Kelly, Samantha Talley (Sean), and Darina Allen; two great-grandchildren, Logan and Natalie; a sister, Gloria Parker (Gerald) of Palisade, CO; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence, William, and Raymond.
He will be laid to rest in New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery-Arneytown.
