Jacob P. Potter

November 17, 1981 — October 10, 2023

Grain Valley

Jacob “Jake” Paul Potter, 41, passed peacefully on October 10th, 2023 after a difficult battle with liver disease. Jake was born on November 17th, 1981 to his parents Debbie Murdock and Roger Potter in Independence, MO. He was the oldest of two children, younger sister being Tara Murdock. Jake was preceded into heaven by his grandparents Donna and Edwin Patterson, cousin Elizabeth Shaw and step-brother Keith Moore. He leaves behind his only child and his whole heart Destiny Potter, both parents Debra and Roger, sister Tara and his nieces and nephews; Anthony, Stephen, Marlee, and Aiyanna, as well as other close family members and friends.

Jake grew up in Versailles, Missouri, where he graduated from Versailles R-2 High School in 2000. He was an authentic country boy and a proud member of the FFA. Making genuine connections came easily to him, and he had made many lifelong friends that date back to elementary school. Together they left memories all around the town.

Shortly after his daughter, Destiny, was born, his family relocated to Grain Valley, Missouri. Jake managed a lube shop for many years there, teaching lots of young newcomers who he left lasting impressions on. He then worked as a mechanic at his close friend's shop, which opened up an avenue to indulge in his favorite things; hotrods, drag racing, mud runs and good friends. He will be missed dearly by so many.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 21, 2023 , at Newkirk Cemetery in Fortuna, Missouri.

Memorials may be given to the family, in care of Scrivner-Page-Dady Funeral Home, P.O. Box 64, Stover, MO 65078.
