Hazel Grace Marriott

Hazel Grace Marriott, age 91, of Eldon, formerly of Versailles, died early Saturday morning, November 29, 2008, at St. Marys Health Center in Jefferson City.
She was born September 14, 1917, in Lebanon, Oklahoma, a daughter of Edward and Ida Crow Vessels. On February 8, 1946, in Troy, Kansas, Hazel married George Marriott. George preceded her in death December 26, 1996.
The Marriotts made their home in Columbia for several years, where Hazel worked at the Gerbes store. They later moved to Versailles where she resided until moving to Eldon to be near her son and his family.
Hazel was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Eldon. She enjoyed sewing and quilting. Her greatest enjoyment came from the time she could spend with her family.
She is survived by four children, Gary Marriott and wife Carole of Eldon; Gail Lynn Overbeck and husband Wayne of Columbia; Darvin Shue of Dallas, Texas and Don Shue also of Dallas, Texas; a brother, Kenneth Vessels and wife Clarice of Durant, Oklahoma; a sister, Edna Mae Rorie and husband Bobby of Durant, Oklahoma; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Shue; six grandchildren, Erika Overbeck, Emily Fitzhugh and husband Jeff, Cassandra Miller and husband Will, Lance Marriott, Kimberly Robertson and husband Chris and Stacy Dunham and husband Jay, six great grandchildren, Bailey and Parker Dunham, Britton and Cooper Robertson, Emma Charles Miller, and Devan Overbeck, also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Shue and four brothers, Edwin Vessels, Ed Vessels, Travis Vessels and Hurt Vessels.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 2, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Versailles with her nephew, Rev. Jackie Moore and the Rev. Jerry Frye officiating. The recorded selections of "Amazing Grace," "How Great Thou Art" and "In the Garden" will be played. Interment was in the West Lawn Addition of the Versailles Cemetery with Tom Wyrick, Ray Forrest, Jerry King, Darrell Bias, Cloyce Klein and Jimmy Don Huffman serving as casket bearers.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
