Harriet Ann Wittrock

Harriet Ann Wittrock, age 81, of Gravois Mills, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2018 at her home.

She was born August 27, 1936, in St. Louis, Missouri one of two daughters born to Howard and Mildred Shaw Hook.  On August 19, 1985 Harriet was united in marriage to Larry Wittrock who survives at their home.

As a young girl Harriet contracted polio and her parents were told she would never walk again.  She credits her parents with giving her the love and support to overcome the doctor’s prediction; achieving complete recovery.

She was owner of Parrish Accounting Service in Laurie.  Her artistic ability led her to open her own studio known as Wittrock Crafts and Studios in Laurie and later Gravois Mills. She was an accomplished portrait artist, sharing her talent with many families throughout the lake area.

Harriet and Larry were active in the Gravois Mills community. She was a longtime member of the Gravois Mills Lion Club, serving as treasurer for many years. She also began raising goats when one of her children was found to be lactose intolerant and she continued this for many years.

She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Versailles.

In addition to her husband of more than 32 years, she is survived by five children, Debora Beverly, Tamsen Buehler, Barrie Wittrock, Jeffrey Wittrock and Kinton “Gary” Wittrock and wife Susan, eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, along with other relatives and friends.

Harriet was preceded in death by her parents, one son Jay Parrish and one grandchild.

A Celebration of Harriet’s life will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday, February 17, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Versailles. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.  Private inurnment will be held at a later date in Wittrock family plot in the Garber Memorial Estates in Laurie.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Grace Lutheran Church in Versailles.
