Harold "Doc" Vaughan

August 18, 1921 — April 13, 2022

Harold "Doc" Vaughan, age 100, of Versailles passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at his home.
It was on the 18th day of August in 1921 when Wilson and Dusty Dobison Vaughan welcomed their nineteenth child, Harold Dewayne Vaughan into their home in Tuscumbia.
Doc served his country in the United States Army during World War II.
On March 14, 1942 he was united in marriage to Gladys Nell Braden, who preceded him in death on May 13, 1990.
Hard work was not something that Doc shied away from. He worked doing maintenance for MODOT starting in 1949; eventually retiring in 1983 to enjoy spending his days fishing and sometimes doing a little gambling. He also liked watching the St. Louis Cardinals.
Doc had a way of telling people how it was, but also being the first one to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed it. His greatest enjoyment in life came from his family and the time he spent with them.
Left to carry on his legacy are his three children and their spouses, Gladys and Kenneth Baker of Warsaw, Wanda Sue Lewis of Stover, and James and Margaret Vaughan of Versailles; a daughter-in-law, Jackie Vaughan of Wentzville; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; along with many other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Doc was preceded in death by one son, Harold "Sonny" Vaughan Jr.; one great grandson, Jacob Rider; along with all eighteen of his siblings.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2022 at the Scrivner-Page-Dady Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial will be in the West Lawn Addition of the Versailles Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Versailles Cemetery or VFW post 5178 at Gravois Mills.
