Harold Swoffod, age 91, of Stover passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022 at the Golden Age Living Center in Stover.
It was on the 2nd day of March in 1930 when Harvey and Mary Alice Peoples Swofford welcomed their son, Harold Wayne into their home in Brumley.
On September 15, 1951 Harold was united in marriage to Alta Pogue, who preceded him in death on October 6, 2021.
Harold worked as a barber his whole life, eventually buying his own shop. He was also a member of the Barber’s Union.
Harold was taught by his mom in a one room schoolhouse the whole time he was in school, which he was very proud of.
Spending time working on his car was something Harold liked to do. He also liked to tell jokes. His greatest enjoyment in life came from being a husband to Alta and spending time with his family.
Left to carry on Harold’s legacy are his two sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Mary Swofford of Illinois and Darrel and Rose of St. Louis; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; nephews, Morris of St. Peters and Dorrless and Larry of Brumley; along with other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife, Alta and his parents Harold is preceded in death by his brother, Roy Swofford; sister, Nellie Wall; two siblings that died as children, Gerald Swofford and Sally Swofford; and a nephew, Marvin.
