Harlin Joe Zortman

Harlin Joe Zortman, age 72, of Eldon passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at his home.

He was born July 24, 1947, the only son of Gravil and Irene Tupper Zortman in Hornick, Iowa. On November 11, 1992 he married Mary Burkland Whisler in Etterville.

Harlin worked for the Lodge of the 4 Seasons on the banquet crew for over twenty years; before going to work for Wal-Mart in Osage Beach where he worked as a greeter and in the Lawn and Garden Department until the time of his death.

He enjoyed going to garage sales and Marlene’s animals. Harlin was an avid bowler and belonged to a league and could bowl a near perfect game.

Survivors include three children, Marlene Haller of Eldon, Laura Zortman and Larry Zortman of Iowa; four step children, Allen Heckman of Tuscumbia, Martin Whisler of Boonville, LaVon Whisler of Huntsville, Alabama, and Sharlene Kammerich and husband Danny of Boonville; one sister, Lois Hobbs of Lawton, Iowa; and several grandchildren along with nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Along with his wife and his parents, Harlin was preceded in death by one sister, Amy Jones.

In keeping with his wishes, he was cremated.  A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, at the Glensted Cemetery located on 11521 Glensted Road north of Versailles.
