Frank Griffin “Griff” Streit, age 83, of Pilot Grove, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at his home.
He was born February 6, 1943, in Sedalia, the son of Frank Briggs and Mary Genelle (Griffin) Streit.
Griff graduated from Smithton High School in 1961 and attended Central Missouri State University for a year. He later went to California, where he learned the trade of sheetrock finishing.
On August 22, 1964, he married Marybelle Sigman, and together they raised two children, Matthew Griffin and Cynthia (Cindy) Marie.
Griff and Marybelle moved to Harrisburg, MO, for two years before settling in the Millersburg area where he worked as a sheetrock contractor and finisher until retiring in 2005. He then moved to the Clifton City area, returning to the Streit Century Farm, where he continued to love his children and support his family.
It’s been said, that Griff should have been born 100 years ago as he loved his horses, mules, fishing, hunting and the mountain man lifestyle. He also liked to joke that horse-riding Indians must have been among his relatives.
He believed in praying to Almighty God, thinking positively, learning from his mistakes and never giving up.
Survivors include his son, Matt Streit (Susan), of Fulton; his daughter, Cindy Baumgartner (Mike), of Fulton, granddaughter Casey Baumgartner, (Thomas Gardner), of Denver, Colorado; Cody Baumgartner, (Mahala), great-grandson, Ellison James, of St. Louis, his twin sister, Mary Evelyn Porter, of Smithton; several nieces and one nephew; six great-nephews; and two great-nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents, G.V. Streit, older brother and Robert Porter, brother-in-law.
A celebration of Griff’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at the Otterville Community Building. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Otterville.
