Glen Roe

September 15, 1936 — November 19, 2020

Glen Edward Roe, age 84, of Lebanon passed away early Thursday morning, November 19, 2020, at the Lebanon South Nursing and Rehab center, where he had resided for the past few years.

Glen Edward Roe came into this world on September 15, 1936, a son of Charley Hail and Bessie Iola Chamberlain Roe.

Glen was born and raised in the Gravois Mills area located in Morgan County, Missouri.  His family roots go back before the Lake of the Ozarks was even established, with his father working on the Bagnall Dam.

Glen was baptized in 2009, along with his son Greg and his grandson Chole, at the North Five Freewill Baptist Church in Lebanon.

Glen’s family worked in the timber and he helped his father in his timber business, cutting and hauling wood to sell.  As a young man Glen began harvesting the hickory trees in the area, cutting and transporting the hickory wood to Kansas City restaurants that made bar-b-que famous throughout the region. In addition to his wood business he also opened his salvage yard in Versailles in the early 1970’s, which he owned and operated until 1977.

As he grew older he realized he had missed getting to know his family so he sold the wood business in the early 80’s.  He moved to Pulaski County in 1987 to be near his kids and grandkids.

Survivors include five children, Cindy Roe of Columbia; Greg Roe of Lebanon; Glen Dale Roe and wife Julia of Richland and Robin Smith, husband David of Stoutland and Timmy Cann and wife Mandy Kidwell Cann of Versailles; a sister, Bonnie Copeland of Yuma, Arizona; thirteen grandchildren, Brittni, Chole, Travis, Lydia, Josh, Cody, D.J., Glen Dale, Jr., Kendell, Keinna, Sydney, Taylor and Ashlynn; several great grandchildren, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, William and Don Roe and a sister, Fern Fales.

A graveside service for Glen will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2021 at the Versailles Cemetery.
