George J. Thiel

February 25, 1925 — October 31, 2020

George Thiel, 95 of Tipton died Saturday at his home in Tipton.

Because of the threat of coronavirus his service will include the immediate family only. The last thing George would have wanted would be for anyone to become ill or suffer because of him.

George was born in Tipton on February 25, 1925 to George and Louise Stoecklein Thiel. He lived and grew up on the farm with his younger brother Jim. George loved farming and living in the country. He spent most of his life planting crops in the spring and harvesting them in the fall.

He also loved and enjoyed time at the Lake of the Ozarks where he liked to share good times with family and friends. Many a water skier learned to ski with George as the boat operator and instructor.

George was also a genuine problem and puzzle solver. There was little he couldn’t fix with some thinking, skill and talent.

George married Mary Helen Knipp on February 5, 1947. He is survived by his son Charlie “Chuck” Thiel and his wife Carol; two grandchildren: Tori Sisson and husband, Scott and Andy Thiel and wife, Gale Adair and three great grandchildren, Jake, Anna, and Luke Sisson. Also his brother Jim Thiel and his wife, Betty of Mesa, Arizona. And his very special friend, Margaret Twenter of Boonville.

In lieu of flowers his family requests that you show a special kindness to someone the way George did. Whether a kind word or deed, something to lift someone’s spirit or life the way George did. Share a joke or funny story like he did and always be thoughtful and kind.

Arrangements are in the care of Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Tipton.
