Eugene Brooks, II, 86, of Tipton, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2026, at Tipton Oak Manor.
He was born on October 27, 1939, in Armstrong, Missouri, the only child of Eugene, Sr. and Margie (Robb) Brooks. Growing up as an only child, Gene developed the strong work ethic and independent spirit that would remain with him throughout his life.
On May 26, 1984, Gene was united in marriage to Linda Kay Stinson. Together they shared many years of love and companionship until her passing on July 3, 2020.
Gene dedicated many years of his career to Missouri Gas and Energy, where he earned the respect of his coworkers before retiring. Retirement, however, was simply a change of pace rather than an end to his work. Gene was never one to sit still. He was happiest when he had a project to tackle, a chore to complete, or something to keep his hands busy. His strong work ethic never faded, and he remained constantly on the go.
One of Gene's greatest pleasures was traveling with Linda. Together they explored destinations around the world, creating countless memories that he treasured throughout his life. Their travels reflected a shared love of adventure and experiencing new places together.
He found great satisfaction in caring for his home, especially tending to his lawn and maintaining his pond. Gene appreciated the simple pleasures in life and took pride in creating and caring for the place he called home. Whether working outdoors or finding another task to accomplish, he was always happiest when he was busy.
Gene will be remembered as a hardworking, dependable man whose quiet dedication and unwavering determination were evident in everything he did. His legacy of perseverance and pride in a job well done will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Gene was richly blessed with a family of the heart. Over the years, his neighbors became his family, sharing holidays, celebrations, everyday moments, and countless memories. They loved him deeply, and he loved them in return. His wisdom, steady presence, and quiet generosity became woven into the fabric of their lives. While they did not share his name, they shared something even greater, the enduring bond of love. His absence will leave an immeasurable void, but his memory will remain a cherished part of their family forever.
Gene was preceded in death by both of his parents and his wife, Linda Kay Brooks.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at the Meisenheimer-Page-Dady Funeral Home in Tipton, with burial to follow at the Hickman Cemetery near Clarksburg. There is no visitation scheduled. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Hickman Cemetery or Sharon Cemetery near Armstrong, MO.
