Gary L. Young

Gary Lynn Young, age 64, of Russellville, Missouri died Thursday evening, January 15, 2009, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
He was born November 8, 1944, in Springfield, Missouri, a son of George Washington and Vera Mae Glazier Young, both deceased. Gary married Marguerite Haney on January 1, 1966, in Springfield, and she survives at their home.
He was a 1962 graduate of Mountain View High School and a 1967 graduate of Southwest Missouri State College with a Bachelors of Science degree in Finance. In 1974 he completed his Masters of Science-Accounting from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
For 30 years he worked for the federal government, retiring as senior auditor from the Office of Inspector General for Audit, Health and Human Service in Jefferson City, Missouri.
He was a charter member of the Russellville Senior Housing Association, serving on the Board as secretary/treasurer for almost 30 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Lynn and Marla Young of Russellville and Randy and Amy Young of Shiloh, Illinois; one daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Ben Hausman of Merritt Island, Florida; two sisters, Georgia Kraft of West Plains, Missouri and Bonnie Long of Oakland, California; five grandchildren, Taylor and Grace Young, Blake and Breanna Hausman and Ian Young, his sixth grandchild is due in April, also other relatives and friends.
Two brothers, George Robert "Bob" Young and Ronnie Gerald Young also preceded him in death.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 24, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Russellville with Tom Crain officiating. Interment will be in the Spring Garden Cemetery near Eugene.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Friday, January 23, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Russellville. Memorial contributions are suggested to Missouri Palliative Care Program.
