Flossie Marie Allee

February 12, 1909 — June 19, 2009

Flossie Marie Allee was born February 12, 1909, near Barnett, in Morgan County, Missouri. She was a daughter of Oliver A. and Laura Jane Compton Decker. She departed this life Friday, June 19, 2009, at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles.
On August 17, 1929, Flossie was united in marriage to Ray Sanford Allee, who preceded her in death on February 17, 1993. They were the parents of three children.
As a young teenager, she made her profession of faith, and joined Hopewell Baptist Church where she remained a member until her death. She served in a number of capacities over her years of membership, including Sunday School teacher for the children.
"Grandma Allee" possessed the spiritual gift of hospitality and nothing pleased her more than gathering her family around her for wonderful home cooked meals made from the products of their farm in the Hopewell community. She also spent some years working in local factories and after moving to Versailles, she worked as a housekeeper at the Western Hills Motel near her home. She gardened extensively and had a yard full of beautiful flowers.
Flossie celebrated her one-hundredth birthday this past February. During her lifetime, she helped raise her younger siblings when her mother died at an early age, survived the Great Depression when she and her husband lost most of their livestock and equipment in a barn fire, and worried over her brother missing in action for three years in the Philippines during World War II.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Vincel Ray and Anita Allee of Versailles and Charles Dean and Kathleen Allee of Bolivar; five granddaughters, Teresa M. Winfrey and husband Robert of Chillicothe, Karen M. Rohrer of Columbia; Vinita A. Henry and husband Sam of St. Charles; Diann A. Prescott and husband Tim of St. Louis and Angelia A. Maxeiner and husband Mark of Quincy, Illinois; also ten great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Flossie was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Ruth Lorine Allee Masters, three brothers, Elmer, Jewel and Doyle Decker and two sisters, Fern Bellamy and Marguerite Bodrucki.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 23, at the Hopewell Union Church with her pastor, Rev. Randy Smith officiating and Rev. Jasper Hunter and Rev. Jim Kruse assisting. Interment will be in the Hopewell Union Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 23, at the Hopewell Union Church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Hopewell Union Cemetery.
