Eunice Mae Vollrath

Eunice Mae Vollrath, 85, of Pilot Grove, Missouri passed away peacefully at Boone Hospital in Columbia, Missouri on August 9, 2020.

Eunice was born on May 25, 1935 to Oscar and Margaret Knipp. She married Wilbur Raymond Vollrath on January 11, 1955 at St. Andrew’s in Tipton, Missouri. Eunice attended grade school at St. Andrews Catholic School in Tipton, Missouri and graduated from Tipton High School in 1953. Eunice made an impression on all of those whom she met. She was always willing to share advice with those who needed it as well as put a smile on everyone’s face. Her positive outlook on life impacted those near and dear to her. Two of her favorite quotes were “Turn your scars into stars” and “Just Love Ya”.

After raising her four children, Eunice spent her working career at State Farm Insurance in Columbia Missouri. Eunice developed lifelong friendships with her work family over the years. She enjoyed volunteering in various ways. One of her favorites was reading to second graders at Pilot Grove Elementary. Many students know her as “Grandma Eunice”. Eunice loved taking pictures and capturing special moments, creating picture books and cards for friends and family. Eunice was an active volunteer at various church and community organizations. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed visits from her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Eunice was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur, her parents, brother Ken Knipp, sister and brother in-law Elmer and Sara Miller, brother in laws Pete Vollrath, Jerry Young, and Charlie Young.

Eunice is survived by her loving children, Steve (Susie) Vollrath of Sunrise Beach, Mark (Linda) Vollrath, Sherry (Michael) Barry, Mary (Gregg) Triebsch all of Pilot Grove. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brother in-laws James (Joyce), David (Jean) and Donald Vollrath; sister-in-laws Johnnie Vollrath, Joyce Knipp, Barbara Young and Janet Young; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Eunice Vollrath will be 10:00 AM Monday, August 17, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pilot Grove. Burial will take place immediately following the service in the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may call on Sunday, August 16, 2020 between the hours of 2 and 4 PM at Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Pilot Grove to sign the guest register and say a final goodbye to Eunice. The family will not be present in observance of COVD-19 guidelines.

The family finds comfort in the thoughts and prayers that are being extended to them and request everyone be mindful and to take care for their own well-being and others during this health crisis.

Memorials are suggested to the St. Joseph Catholic Church.
