Esther Hulda Strobel, 99, of Jefferson City, formerly of Lohman, passed away Friday, February 17, 2017, at Adams Street Place. She was born February 25, 1917, in Jefferson City, Missouri, the daughter of the late Otto Emil and Anna Martha Goldammer Schuricht. She was baptized on March 25, 1917, and confirmed on March 29, 1931, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson City. She was educated at Trinity Lutheran School. After moving to Lohman, she became a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church-Stringtown and the St. John’s Ladies Aid. She was united in marriage on November 30, 1957, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson City, to Raymond Adolph Strobel who preceded her in death on January 26, 2001. Esther worked for Tweedie Shoe Factory as a fancy stitcher. She loved farm life, gardening and flowers, making crafts, crocheting, and playing cards and board games. Survivors include one brother-in-law, Herbert Strobel and wife Rose, Lohman; and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and other extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, Julius Schuricht; her sister, Irene Knernschield; two sisters-in-law, Irene Rockemann and Esther Goldammer; and two brothers-in-law, Edwin Strobel and Gilbert Knernschield. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Homes in Russellville. Additional visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church-Stringtown. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at St. John’s Lutheran Church-Stringtown, with Pastor Jacob Mueller officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery-Stringtown. Memorials are suggested to the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery-Stringtown.
