Elroy J. Young

Elroy J. Young, age 88, of Stover, Missouri died Wednesday, January 9, 2008, at the Highgate Senior Living Center in Bozeman, Montana.
He was born November 7, 1919, in Stover, a son of Henry and Wooda Wessel Young. He was baptized December 21, 1919, and confirmed August 18, 1935, at the Trinity Lutheran Church at Pyrmont. The confirmation verse chosen was Revelations 2:10, "...be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life."
On August 10, 1943, Elroy married Irene Nolting in the Christ Lutheran Church parsonage in Stover, and she preceded him in death July 27, 2005.
Shortly after his marriage he worked for the Kansas City Bifocal plant for about two years before opening his own business in Stover. For the next forty years Elroy owned and operated Stover Plumbing and Heating Supply Company in downtown Stover.
He was a faithful member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Stover.
Elroy enjoyed visiting with family and friends. Since his wife passed in 2005, he has resided near his granddaughter in Montana.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Ron Eken of Ten Mile, Tennessee; two granddaughters, Michelle Baker and husband Greg of Bozeman, Montana and Dr. Stephanie Eken Sanders and husband Shannon of Louisville, Kentucky, one great grandson, Cole Baker of Bozeman, Montana, three half-sisters, Dorene Porter and Shirley Bush and husband Woody all of Stover and Viola Mae Helms of Boonville, Missouri; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother, Gertrude Young and two half-brothers, Orva and Leonard Young.
Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M. Sunday, January 13, at the Christ Lutheran Church in Stover with Pastor John Kiehl officiating. Interment will be in the Stover Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:30 P.M. Saturday, January 12, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover.
