Elroy H. Koester

Elroy H. Koester, age 92, of Stover, died Thursday evening, November 6, 2008, at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia.
He was born September 10, 1916, in Stover, a son of William and Lisette Kipp Koester. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Old Stover.
On September 4, 1938, Elroy was united in marriage to Alma Woolery, at the St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Stover. Alma preceded him in death July 4, 2001.
Elroy and Alma were business partners, owning and operating the Stover Hatchery for 43 years, before selling the business and retiring in 1985.
He was a lifelong, faithful and active member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church. He served as an elder and financial secretary for many years, as well as sang in the choir. He was still attending the men's Bible study class when his health recently failed him. He was a supporter of the St. Paul Lutheran School, and for many years provided the American Flag for the school's flag pole.
He had served as President of the Missouri Poultry Association and had been a member of the Stover Chamber of Commerce.
Elroy is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Philip Doolady of Cape Coral, Florida; a brother and sister-in-law, Vernon and Lorena Koester of Sedalia; one sister, Lorena Holsten of Stover; two grandsons, Troy Doolady and wife Michele and Kurt Doolady all of Columbia; six great grandchildren, Kayla, Anna, Cameron, Karson, Max and Will Doolady, also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Lorenz Koester and one grandson, Philip Michael Doolady, Jr.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, November 10, at the St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Stover with Rev. Cecil Murdock officiating. Interment will be in the St. Pauls Lutheran Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 P.M. Sunday, November 9, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover, with a prayer service at 4:30 P.M.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Pauls Lutheran Church, St. Pauls Lutheran School or the Golden Age Living Center.
