Elmer Lee Newman

January 26, 1937 — September 2, 2021

Elmer Newman, age 84, of Cole Camp passed away Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia.      It was the 26th day of January in 1937 that Arbry and Clara Nelson Newman welcomed a wonderful baby boy, Elmer Lee, to their home in Morgan County.      Elmer served his country in the United States Navy.      He was united in marriage to Mickey Morrison in 1959 and to this union they had a son, Kevin.       On June 6, 1992 in Stover, Elmer was united in marriage to Debi Crist, who preceded him in death on September 4, 2016.      Elmer retired from General Motors in Kansas City; where he started out working on the assembly line and worked his way up to being an inspector.      While Elmer was a hard worker he also found ways to enjoy life. He was a member of the Eagle's Club. He liked cars, playing pool, hunting, fishing, on the go trips, taking pictures with his camera, and even taught himself how to draw. Of all these things, Elmer's greatest enjoyment in life came from his family, especially his grandkids.      Left to carry on Elmer's legacy is his son, Kevin Newman and his wife Tammy of Lincoln; a step son, Ryan Thornton of Lincoln; a step daughter, Mindy Thomas and husband John of Bates City; along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.      In addition to his parents, and wife Debi, he was preceded in death by all his siblings, James Newman, Robert Newman, Virl Newman, J.C. Newman, Clifford Newman, Gene Newman, an infant sibling (Gene's twin) Baby Newman, Donie Anderson, Cresteen Newman, and Betty Newman.      In keeping with his wishes he was cremated.
