Eleanor Jane Maclay

September 19, 1929 — November 16, 2020

Miss Eleanor Jane Maclay, 91, Dallas, Texas, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2020.

She was born Sept. 19, 1929, in Dallas, Texas, a daughter of William H. and Eleanor A. Maclay.

Miss Maclay graduated from Highland Park High School in Dallas, Texas, and Southern Methodist University, both with high honors. While attending SMU she joined Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. Her entire working career of 37 years was spent with DeGolyer McNaughton as a librarian. She was a member of the Highland Park Presbyterian Church. She loved to travel and took many trips to Europe. She cared deeply for charitable organizations, especially the Salvation Army. She loved her neighborhood in Dallas and was very involved in its preservation. Equally important to her was the original family homeplace, the Maclay Home in Tipton, Mo. Along with her siblings and cousins she spent many summers at the home with her aunts where many fond memories were made.

Surviving is a sister, Martha Maclay Ochs of Ogden, Utah; a niece, Karen Ochs Skeen, Ogden, Utah; a nephew, Greg and Lucy Ochs, Ajijic, Mexico; and many great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Maclay; and a brother, William Maclay Jr.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Tipton. Bishop Tyson Skeen, a great-nephew, will officiate.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Tipton.
