Elaine Fisher

January 22, 1934 — October 24, 2020

Elaine Fisher was born January 22nd, 1934 in Independence. She was one of four children of Marion T. Calhoon and Hazel Marie Wheeler Shanahan.

On August 11th, 1979 she married the love of her life Willie Lee Fisher in Kansas City.

Elaine had many passions including cooking, animal rescue, and her family. She was eager to rise for work every morning for the Shawnee Mission School district as their kitchen supervisor. She loved making the students’ favorite meals and seeing all of their grateful smiles. Elaine and Willie also had a catering business and cooked together as often as possible. Many of their grandchildren have fond memories of grandma teaching them to cook before they were tall enough to see the burners. She had the kindest heart but also had a stern side and was quick to remind you that “God don’t like ugly”.

Elaine had a very special place in her heart for those with disabilities and made sure her brother’s special needs group homes felt love and grace with each meal she cooked and every hug she shared.

Elaine passed on October 24th, 2020 in their Tipton home with Willie lovingly by her side.

Surviving are her husband, Willie, of the home; three children, Edward Tervol Jr. and wife Shannon, of Harrisonville, Danny Tervol and wife Francesca, of Springfield, and Marian Hall, of Newton, KS; six grandchildren, Jessica, Josh, Matt, Heidi, Brianna and Rebecca; sixteen great-grandchildren with one soon to be arriving; and a brother, Elwood Shanahan, of Greenwood.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Michelle Capps; and two siblings, Eulabelle Rooks and Marion “Ike” Shanahan.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be sent to Meisenheimer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 278, Tipton, MO 65081.
