Edna M. Rugen

Edna M. Rugen, age 90, of Pyrmont, near Stover, died Monday, February 23, 2009, at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Cole Camp.
She was born January 4, 1919, on the family farm at Pyrmont, a daughter of Rudolph and Anna Witte Rugen.
She was baptized January 26, 1919, and confirmed April 15, 1933, at the Trinity Lutheran Church at Pyrmont (Missouri Synod).
Edna had worked at Tweedies Manufacturing in Versailles, Smithton's Inc. in Stover and for Francis Kraxberger in Stover. When her mother's health failed she began working at the family farm, where she raised eggs for the Stover Hatchery. Edna also kept the family garden and enjoyed raising flowers. She remained on the family farm until her health began to decline a few years ago and she moved to the nursing home.
She was a faithful member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stover.
Survivors include one sister, Lavera Sanders of Cole Camp, three step nieces, Elizabeth Hazelrigg, Maurine Koeller and Sharon Curtis and special friends, Ed and Verona Goetz.
Miss Rugen was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Alvin Rugen.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 26, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stover with Rev. Cecil Murdock officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery at Stover.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. Thursday, at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Hymnal Fund.
