Dwayne Albert Anderson died at the age of 88 on September 20th of natural causes. Though unexpected, he passed the way we would all like--quickly with no prolonged illness. Those who knew Dwayne know that he did not take life too seriously, he loved to share a joke and laugh. His covid mask had a big smile drawn on it.
Dwayne was born on March 6, 1932 in Bayard, Nebraska to John Albert and Blanche (Gartman) Anderson. He was named Dwayne, but later in life was given the nickname “Droopy” for the way his toolbelt pulled his pants down. He graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1951, where he was FFA president his senior year and the whole 150 pounds of him played center on the football team.
Dwayne met Lowene Irene Gillespie at a roller rink and married her on June 8, 1952, 6 months after their first date. They skated through life together for 68 years and had 4 children.
Dwayne, Lowene and their first child Janet moved to Missouri living in Versailles and Fortuna before settling in Tipton in 1957. In Nebraska, he grew sugar beets, alfalfa and pinto beans and milked cows. After moving to Missouri, Dwayne worked numerous jobs mainly in the construction industry. He was a jack of all trades and quite the handyman, he could build and repair most anything. For 8 years, he was part owner of AOA construction, and then retired from Ludwig Associates in 1994 where he worked as a foreman. After retiring he did odd jobs including working for his helpless son.
He is survived by his wife Lowene, two brothers Ed (Rita) and Gene (Joyce), four children, Janet Frakes (Larry), Belinda Corbet (Max), Christine Melton (Gary) and Rodney Anderson (Sherry), eight grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
