Douglas Robert Reynolds

November 26, 1935 — September 13, 2018

Douglas Robert Reynolds, age 82, of Stover, passed away Thursday, September 13, 2018, at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles.

He was born November 26, 1935, in Bracken, Saskatchewan Canada, a son of Harry and Thelma Olson Reynolds.  On April 28, 1956, Doug was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Lucas at the First Baptist Church in Franklinville, New York.  Pat survives at their home.

He was veteran of the Korean War era, serving his country in the United States Marine Corps.  He was honorably discharged in June of 1957 with the rank of Corporal.

Doug and Pat owned and operated Lyndon Lady Dairy Farms located at the crossroads of Lyndon, Franklinville and Cuba, New York.  For more than 40 years the Reynolds family raised and milked prize winning Holsteins. Buyers would come from throughout the United States and Canada to purchase a Lyndon Lady dairy cow.

Community service was important to Doug, leading him to serve as Fire Commissioner and on the City Council of Lyndon.  He was an avid hockey and football fan, rooting for the Buffalo Sabers and the Buffalo Bills respectively.  He also had a love for horses; checking his herd on horseback and he rarely missed a horserace, especially the Triple Crown.

In 1998 Doug and Pat decided the New York winters were becoming too hard for them to endure; with the encouragement of family members, they sold their farm and moved to the Stover community where he joined the Galloway-Martens American Legion Post 343 in Stover. He and Pat were also faithful members of the Stover Baptist Church.  He was an avid reader, enjoyed watching westerns and keeping up with the news.

In addition to his wife of 62 years, he is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Debbie Reynolds of Stover; David and Cathy Reynolds of Lenoir City, Tennessee; Christopher and Christine Reynolds of Oswego City, New York; and Scott and Kim Reynolds of Albion, New York; a sister, Betty Ann Stanton of Lewiston, New York; former daughter-in-law, Sherri LaBarron of Albion, New York; thirteen grandchildren, Kari, Mandi, Kyle, Michael, Douglas, Jacob, Shelby, Amanda, Nikki, Kaleb, Kollin, Kory and Austin; eleven great grandchildren, Grant, Makenzi, Alexis, Archer, Case, John, Anthony, Mia, Carter and Natalie, and Weston, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Ernest, Goodwin and Robert Reynolds, one sister, Dorothy Logan and a granddaughter, Alesha.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 21, at the Stover Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Layne officiating.  Interment, with Military Funeral Honors, will be in the Stover Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 20, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Stover Baptist Church or SSM Hospice.
