Dorothy was born to Mike J and Martha Mae Shay in Clear Creek, Missouri on September 1, 1921.  She was the youngest of nine.  Dorothy married the love of her life, James Pearl McGuire, on October 11, 1939.

Dorothy often recalled her younger days of working on the family farm, helping her mom in the kitchen and going to dances with her brothers and sisters.  But her fondest memories were those of meeting James and starting a family with him.  From that moment on, her family came before anything else.

After retiring from Boben Mfg Co, Dorothy continued to raise a garden, can vegetables, crochet, embroider and quilt.  Her favorite projects were making clothes for Barbie and Ken dolls and making quilts for her children.

Dorothy will long be remembered for the love of her family and her strong Christian beliefs.  As well as her great fried chicken and fantastic pies.

In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her infant daughter Cecilia Mae, brothers Anthony, Bill and Jim.  Also, sisters Irene, Frances, Mary, Leona and Mary Florence.

Dorothy is survived by children: Rosemary (Leo) Kraus, James  (Marilyn) McGuire and Linda (Larry) Knife. Grandchildren: Dorothy (Dennis) McCormick, Shari Kraus, Julie (Dewayne) Murray, Michelle (Matt) Ballew, James (Amanda) McGuire and Ethan (Alissa) McGuire.  Also surviving are many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
