Donald Ray Marriott

April 10, 1942 — April 27, 2020

Donald Ray Marriott, age 78, lifelong resident of Stover, passed away Monday, April 27, 2020, at his home.

He was born April 10, 1942, the middle son of Ray and Pauline Waisner Marriott.

Donald was a 1961 graduate of Stover High School.

On December 1, 1962, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stover, Donald was united in marriage to Elaine Tagtmeyer, who survives at their home.

On May 13, 1963, he was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, the confirmation verse chosen was Revelation 2:10, “Be thou faithful unto death and I will give you the crown of life.”

Donald was an over-the-road truck driver for Crete Carrier, transporting essential goods and merchandise across the United States for more than 30 years.

He was an avid outdoorsman, always ready to spend a day at the lake fishing or in the woods hunting turkeys and looking for mushrooms.

Donald enjoyed visiting at the local coffee shop and was always ready with a quick comeback.  However, his greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.

In addition to his wife of almost 58 years, he is survived by two children, Troy Marriott and girlfriend Rita Leslie of Stover and Lynette Bellis and fiancé Tim Beydler of Stover; two grandchildren Wade and Jenna Bellis of Stover; a sister-in-law Willa Marriott and her daughters, Pam Witte and Gaylene Bauer all of Stover; three brothers-in-law Cletus Tagtmeyer and wife Carol of Smithton; Virgil Tagtmeyer and wife Tanja and David Tagtmeyer all of Sedalia; along with other relatives and many friends.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, a step-father, Ross Franklin, two brothers, Sylvester “Buck” Marriott and Rex Marriott and a nephew, Gene Lee Marriott.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 1, at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Stover with social distancing requirements in effect.
