Donald Brasher Fairchild, 84, of Barnett, passed away Friday, March 31, 2023, at Harry S Truman Veterans Hospital in Columbia.
He was born December 7, 1938, in Lexington, son of Bernie Newton Fairchild, Sr. and Clara (Jaspering) Fairchild.
On April 26, 1975, in Independence, he was married to Patricia "Sue" (Fulton) Fairchild. She preceded him in death on November 15, 2006.
Don was baptized at First Baptist Church at age eight. He was a graduate of Lexington High School and then served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from November 1, 1957 to April 14, 1958. He was a member of the American Legion Post 0642 in Sunrise Beach.
Don worked as a carpet salesman for thirty years. He enjoyed dancing and golfing.
Surviving are three children, Darsi Engeman (Meldan), Brian Fairchild (Ellen), and James Graham; four grandchildren, Matthew Valdez, John Fairchild, Katie Ortmann and Montana Graham; two great-grandchildren, Aubree Kelly and Walker Fairchild; two brothers, Robert "Bobby" Fairchild and Elmer Fairchild; and two sisters, Helen Draisey and Shirley Smith.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Bernie Fairchild Jr., Emmet Fairchild and William "Billy" Fairchild; and two sisters, Judy Fleishmann and Carol Soendker.
A private burial will be held at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, April 16, 2023 at Rick and Patty Reagan's 327 Hwy FF Olean, MO 65064 with a dance following.
Memorial contributions are suggested to American Legion Post 0642, Sunrise Beach.
